CANON HISTORY: Cassandra Cain

IN GAME HISTORY:
As a child, Cassandra Cain was extremely active and rambunctious, which led her parents to enroll her in multiple activities as a way to blow off her extra energy. Nothing really worked until they enrolled her in gymnastics when she was six. Cass took to it like a fish to water, rolling and tumbling and jumping all over the gymnasium as well as their backyard when she wasn’t in class. Her teachers saw potential in Cassandra almost from the start and told David and Sandra that their daughter had the makings of an Olympic athlete. From that point on, David took control over Cassandra’s training, hiring the best coach at the best training facility, which was an hour away from their home in New Jersey. The rest of Cassandra’s childhood then consisted of waking up at five in the morning to practice before school as well as after school. David entered her into as many competitions as possible and when she didn’t rank in the top three, he upped her training.

While Cassandra still enjoyed gymnastics, she hated how it had changed her father and once or twice wished that she would get injured so that he wouldn’t drive her so hard. However, the only injuries she sustained were the usual that gymnasts suffered. As much as she wished that David wasn’t so hard on her when it came to gymnastics, she did dream of someday getting into the Olympics and kept up the grueling training in the hopes of someday accomplishing this dream. Her dream became a reality when she, not only made it into the Olympic Trials, but actually making the 2012 Olympic team. She couldn’t remember ever being as happy as she was at that moment and the summer of 2012 was the best of her life. Not only did she win a team gold, the first since the 1996 Women’s Gymnastics team, but she won gold in the individual vault as well.

Since the Olympics her parents have become even worse as far as stage parents go, with David continuing to push her and Sandra buying pretty much whatever she wants with the money that has come in from various endorsements and now they have moved Cassandra to California, which she doesn’t mind so much, because it is where her former teammate, Jubilee lives.

AUDITION

I still can't believe it happened. It's been six months and when I look at them I still get this feeling that I'm dreaming. I have two gold medals. Two Olympic gold medals. Of course this means that my dad is pushing me even more. I thought maybe he'd let up after this, but he wants me to get on the 2016 team too, but I don't know if I want to do that. I mean maybe I'll feel differently when it gets closer, but right now I just want a break for a little while. Is that too much to ask?
